Here at AstraZeneca Campus Södertälje, one of the world's largest manufacturing units for pharmaceuticals, we meet in innovative and high-tech environments to produce medicines that change lives.
The mission of the Quality Organization is to work together with the manufacturing units within Sweden Operations to ensure that our patients receive a safe and effective medicine at a reasonable cost. We are now looking for laboratory engineers who want to make a difference every day by supporting the business in the quality controls that are part of the flow for all our products.

Your Role
You are responsible for chemical and physical analysis of finished products, intermediates, active substances, raw materials, and packaging materials/devices. You work closely with production and other support functions such as quality evaluation and process engineering.
You handle a large flow of samples from various manufacturing and purchasing processes. The analyses are conducted using modern techniques in chromatography, spectroscopy, wet chemistry, and measurement methods.
In the laboratories, we work in groups of about 15 people and are part of various cross-functional teams. Therefore, it is important that you enjoy and are good at collaborating with others and can communicate clearly and effectively. The daily routine in the laboratories includes both routine work and re-prioritization of tasks based on what production needs. Therefore, you need to have a structured approach to work but still be flexible if conditions change.
Working with continuous improvements is part of your daily work, and you strive to create robust processes where Lean is our systematic approach. We are on an exciting digitalization journey with many digital tools and increasing automation in our laboratories.
What Skills Are We Looking For?
- Scientific education, e.g., Biomedical Analyst/Analytical Chemistry/Chemical Engineering/Measurement Technology or equivalent, or equivalent solid knowledge through professional experience in analytical work, pharmaceutical analysis, or quality control work
- Very good knowledge of Swedish and English (both spoken and written)
- Experience in analytical work, specifically HPLC
- Preferred: experience in quality control of pharmaceuticals or other quality controls.
- Preferred: experience working according to GMP
- Preferred: previous AZ experience
Various technical tools are important working instruments in the role, and the requirement for daily delivery means you need to be comfortable working with computers and systems. It is advantageous if you have experience in analytical work specifically HPLC, quality control of pharmaceuticals, or other quality controls. Previous experience working according to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and Lean is also seen as a merit.
